My little girl is 5 years old and I am pregnant. I want to use her old furniture for the baby, b/c it converts from crib to bed, and get her new furniture. I have a brand new furniture set in the spare room, which will be the nursery. The furniture is a black sleigh bed, night stand, and dresser. Would black furniture be weird for a 5 year old girl? Is it too masculine? Should I just get her something more girly and sell the black? I think it would look pretty in her room b/c her walls are bright pink. Suggestions?

I am having a hard time decorating the nursery..we’ve ordered a brown/tan/pink bedding set and are going to paint the walls a neutral tan with pink accents around the room…goin to put hardwood flooring in the room with white trim as well-do you think we should go with white furniture to brighten up the room..or dark brown furniture to match the bedding?

i need to find some cheap but cute bedding sets and a crib. does anyone know of a good website? i think the cheapest i have found (for a black crib, the one i want) is like 6….

I turned 10 weeks yesterday, but my husband and I don’t have a lot of money saved so I am trying to plan the major purchases (crib, mattress, changing table, 4-in-1 stroller sets, etc.). As far as baby furniture, I would see no problem purchasing these things from a resale shop or out of the paper as long as they were in good condition. However, this is my first child and I just don’t think I’d want to buy used baby clothes or bottles. I don’t even think I want a used high chair or swing. I know babies don’t carry lots of germs, but it just seems those things need to be new. I’m not knocking anybody who does buy used items.

What are your thoughts?

I mean the furniture should match. I’m talking about people who want the bedroom theme to match the gear (swing, stroller, walker, etc.) It’s not like the baby cares. It’s nice for everything to match; it’s just not always reality. Like, I found a complete room set, but it doesn’t have gear that matches and I found a set of gear that matches that I’m going to get. I just don’t get why some people flip out if everything doesn’t match.
I didn’t say everyone did it.

I haven’t been able to find any decent sites for furniture more in the direction of just twins.. like two cribs put together and so on.. im really interested in finding one that looks a little different.. or at least cribs that’s are made for twins. I’m a mom to an almost one year old and the past year has been less than easy. My husband’s job went under about 7 months ago, as with many people’s and our wages were cut in half. Most of our bills went unpaid for quite awhile. His job finally went back up and he was given a promotion and a raise. We will be financially secure in about a week. My baby has not missed out on much, but I still feel like a "par mother." Just because I wasn’t able to get her everything I wanted her to have. Like really expensive clothes and all the toys available and complete matching baby furniture sets. She had what she needed though. A large supply of toys. Cute clothes- never did I buy anything used. And above all attention from me. Her father was in her life for less than half of it because of his job. We are married though and about to move with him so she can see him more. I got pretty messed up hormonally because I got on birth control so for the past 5 or 6 months, I really have not been as good to her as I could’ve been. I don’t know what I need to do to fix that. Maybe antidepressants or different birth control. I just don’t feel like she gets as good as I want her to have, but for right now it’s the best she can get. Our house is really nice.but not as nice as i’d like. things just arent how i want them to be but it will be much better soon. So what can i do? no negativity please. i just need some support.
